The redesigned roller guard and string stop work together to ensure arrow clearance and decreased noise, and the improved grip was made to ensure comfort and reduce torque. I’ll confess that shooting a bow with a brace height just over 5 inches always scared me a bit, as I expected a harsh rollover and a short valley. But the Lawless was a pleasant surprise. At 356 IBO, this is one of those exceptions to the slow-down trend, although our testing has shown in the past the Obsessions IBO rating should be taken with a grain of salt. For now, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. I shot more arrows than I originally intended, which to me is proof the Lawless is a comfortable and pleasant shooter for such a fast-rated bow.

It’s also available in a long-draw version with draw lengths up to 32 inches. The NXT 21 is, you guessed it, 31 inches in length. It has a 6 1/2” brace height and speeds up to 329 fps.

Killer Instinct’s 2020 offering is the SWAT XP and, like previous bow from Killer Instinct, it’s a new take on crossbow technology. This time, Killer Instinct focused on the very real issue of problematic broadhead flight. With crossbows delivering greater speeds than in years past, getting perfect broadhead flight from an array of broadheads can be a challenge. The SWAT XP looks to change that trend with its new Accutac Barrel System. Instead of a standard rail for the arrow to ride along, the barrel completely encircles the arrow.
