Reading to Stansted taxi excellent firm and London travel attractions? Standing high above the historic city of Edinburgh on the volcanic plug known as Castle Rock, this mighty fortress is one of Scotland’s most-visited attractions and rightly so. It was built during the 12th century by David I, son of Saint Margaret of Scotland, and was the main Scottish royal residence until the union of the crowns in 1603. The castle also usually hosts the famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo each year. Overlooking Lancashire’s famous seafront since 1894, this 518-foot (158m) structure has become a much-loved icon of a glorious bygone era. It was designed by Victorian architect Frank Matcham, who was inspired by the Eiffel Tower. It’s also home to the magnificent Blackpool Tower Ballroom, world-famous for its unique sprung dance floor and gorgeous architecture. With its prime spot on Blackpool’s coastline, the tower provides some of the most breathtaking views in the North West.
Before you arrive at Heathrow Airport, you can take advantage of the shopping opportunity by shopping online before you go. This way you can reserve and collect your items when you arrive. Imagine you sit down and order your food. You’re still waiting after 30 minutes. This annoying in any restaurant experience, however, when the time is of the essence, it may mean you go hungry. That’s why you need to check out the 15-minute menu symbols. Restaurants which display this symbol are committed to bringing you your meal in under 15 minutes.
Dating back to the thirteenth century, London’s oldest food market is a cornucopia of gourmet goodies. It used to highlight British produce but nowadays you’ll find global traders and street-food vendors: enjoy French confit-duck sandwiches, Ethiopian stews and scotch eggs (elevated, of course). Once notable for its crowds, the market now has a Covid-safe capacity. Arrive early (get coffee from Monmouth), pick up from Neal’s Yard Dairy, Brindisa and Bread Ahead, and head for a riverside picnic.
The magnificent York Minster is second in importance in the Church of England only to the cathedral at Canterbury. It stands in the center of historic York, surrounded by half-timbered homes and shops, medieval guildhalls, and churches. In turn, York’s romantic streets are surrounded by three miles of magnificent town walls that you can walk atop for spectacular views over the city and its surroundings. While here, visit the National Railway Museum, one of England’s most visited tourist attractions. York is also a good base from which to explore northeast England, in particular the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. Elsewhere in this corner of the country, you’ll find some of England’s most beautiful historic towns and cities, including Durham – famous for its castle and cathedral – and Beverley, which also boasts an attractive minster. First up, there’s the largest Royal Park in London — Richmond Park. This park is located a fair way southwest of the city and makes a great day trip from London, especially if the weather is pleasant. This space is world-famous for being home to 600 wild deer. Keep an eye out for these majestic creatures, though don’t get too close — especially over summer — when mother deer will fiercely protect their young. Richmond Park also has a wonderful view of St Paul’s Cathedral from a vantage point on the western side of the park. It’s so big you could walk for miles within the park’s many walking trails. Being so large, Richmond Park can be accessed from several train stations — it’s about a 20-minute walk from Richmond tube station (District line and London Overground). You can also take a Richmond train from Waterloo station and get off at Norbiton and then a 15-minute walk from the south edge of the park. Richmond Park is open from 7 a.m. in summer and 7:30 a.m. in winter, closing at dusk each day.

Gatwick has a few great hotels within the airport at reasonable price points, but one of my favourites is definitely the Yotel in the South Terminal. You basically walk straight out of arrivals and there’s a lift on your left that brings you down to Yotel. It’s half Japanese pod hotel, half spaceship! The colour theme is white and purple and the lighting is soft and muted. Free Coffee, tea and bottled water is included in the room price and can be gotten from reception 24/7. The shower head is rainfall (dream). The free wifi is great. Room service is available if you’re feeling lazy, though there are plenty of options to choose from in the terminal. The rooms are compact, but that matches the price point and there’s still plenty of room for a suitcase.
Head for one of the airport bars and grab a drink. This is great for people watching if you are travelling alone, and can be great fun. Just relax with a drink and help to pass the time. If you are feeling sleepy, you can always crash out for a few hours at a YOTEL pod or next-generation cabin. Not every airport has these but Heathrow at Terminal 4 has one. You can stay overnight for £56. There are also lots of other things to help pass the time such as visiting a spa, getting a massage or even visiting an art gallery.
